Description

This elegant house combines a sober colonial look with modern concepts. From the outside, it looks like a more traditional house with red tile, dark wood doors and window frames, iron lamps, and wood benches on each side of the main door. There are no dramatic angles or slanting walls; no rugged surfaces. It was built in 2000 and remodeled five years ago. The property is 2930 m2 with 980 m2 of construction.

As you come in through the main entrance you see a considerably large living room area with high ceilings and large windows overlooking a terrace and the garden. Above the windows, a tasteful panel motif with wooden frames provides a soft, warm touch. The tile on the floor is beige with dark wine bands, sober and elegant. Dark baseboards on the walls surround the area. A receding ceiling with small lamps for illumination has dark crown molding echoing the dark accents on the floor. The crown molding follows the edges and curves of the walls, producing a sense of movement in both ceiling and walls. Different size arched pathways lead to other areas of the house.

A large arch leads to the main dining room where the same style of the living room with beige tiles, dark baseboards, and crown molding continues. It is very spacious, big enough to accommodate a large table for eight or twelve. Both the living and dining room areas are contained within the house behind big glass windows. The feeling is of a house open to the outside, full of light and air.

Beyond the windows, immediately next to the formal living room, there is a living/dining room area with a BBQ and a mini bar. It is a more informal space, and, at the same time, quite luxurious. It is literally open to the outside, covered by a roof, but with no windows or doors. You feel like you are sitting in the garden, but in great comfort and protected from the rain. A beautiful, angular high roof with wooden beams, a chandelier and fan/light combination frames the space. It’s a very pleasing architectural feature.
